CLASSICAL ARTS

Many of our arts that existed in our homeland Central Asia continued their evolution by interacting with the arts of different cultures and civilizations until they reached Anatolia, and they developed and gained different dimensions with the addition of forms based on various belief systems.
With the acceptance of Islam by the Turks in 751 AD; efforts were made to make the already beautiful Quran and hadiths look more beautiful and to write more beautifully, based on the principle of “making the ugly beautiful and the beautiful more beautiful” of the aesthetic understanding of Islam, and the aesthetic standards of arts, especially calligraphy, began to settle and different schools began to form. The art of calligraphy was especially developed in Anatolia, illumination, miniature and katı’ applications were made to the edges of the writing, magnificent bindings with marbling-covered side papers were created, and the arts of books began to form. Our arts have also shown their influence in architecture, and have been applied to make different places such as places of worship, palaces, mansions, inns, baths, bridges and fountains look more beautiful, and have become naht in the walls, and in the wood cutting, and the wood has been decorated with kundekari, mother-of-pearl inlay and edirnekari, and the adventure on the path of art has continued and has created the classical arts inventory with its solid foundations. After the conquest of Istanbul, our arts, which were carefully supported by the palace, have become stylized over time and have reached their peak in the 16th century. Today, despite the use of developing technologies, our arts, without being affected by different trends, still maintain the peak they have achieved as “Classical Arts” centered in Istanbul.
